How It Works

1. Fill out the form

Choose your portrait type and fill in the form below. Please attach 3–5 good-quality photos of yourself, including:

  • 1 clear portrait photo

  • 1 full-body photo (ideally against a white background)

  • Optionally: photos where you like how you look — tell me if you'd like your realistic portrait to be based on one of them.

The better the photos, the more accurately I can capture your colors.

2. I’ll get in touch

I’ll review your request and contact you by email to confirm if I can take it on. We can discuss details like whether you'd like to know which colors I see in you — or keep it a surprise. I’ll also send you an estimated timeline and shipping cost.

3. Confirm your commission

Once everything is agreed upon, you can reserve your spot by paying the full amount upfront (via PayPal or card). After payment, I’ll begin painting. Please note: Due to the nature of watercolor, revisions aren't possible once I start.

4. Final steps

If you ordered a realistic portrait, I’ll send you a pencil sketch before painting. When the painting is finished, I’ll send you a photo of the final work. Shipping will be arranged once the shipping fee is paid (unless it was already included).

Commission Form

Ready to bring your portrait to life through my synesthetic lens? Please read the Terms of Service and fill out the form below to begin the process.

Terms of Service

By placing a full payment for a commission, you agree to the following terms:

Payment

All commissions require 100% upfront payment to secure your spot. I begin the creative process only after the payment is received.

Revisions
Due to the nature of watercolor, no changes can be made once the painting process has started. I will create the artwork based on the type of portrait you selected (abstract or realistic), the photos you provide, and our initial conversation. Please note that I do not offer previews or revisions for abstract portraits. For realistic portraits, a pencil sketch will be shared before painting begins. I do not accept changes that conflict with my artistic style, vision, or process.

Right to Refuse or Cancel
I reserve the right to decline or cancel any commission at any stage. If I cancel the commission, you will receive a full refund. If you, the client, choose to cancel the commission after payment is made, the payment is non-refundable.

Shipping
Shipping costs are calculated based on your location and must be paid before the artwork is sent, unless already included in the total price. I am not responsible for delays caused by postal services.

Usage Rights
I retain all copyrights to the artwork. I may share the finished painting and parts of the process (photos or videos) on my website, social media, in articles, interviews, or other connected platforms.
You are welcome to share the work online with credit and display it for personal, non-commercial use. Commercial reproduction, resale, or distribution of the artwork is not permitted without written permission.

Trust
By commissioning me, you are trusting my unique way of seeing and interpreting your colors. Each portrait is a one-of-a-kind artwork created from synesthetic perception.

Agreement
By submitting a commission request and making payment, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms of Service.

 FAQs

  • No. I don’t read auras. I have a form of synesthesia called color-personality synesthesia (sometimes called “aura synesthesia”). It’s a neurological phenomenon where the senses cross, and I involuntarily perceive colors around people.

  • Yes! I ship worldwide. Shipping costs depend on your location and will be calculated after you fill out the form.

  • Yes! You can order both versions together at a reduced price. Just select "Both – 195€" in the form.

  • Yes, you can request more than one portrait (for example, for family members or as gifts). If you’re planning to order multiple at once, feel free to mention that in the form or email me directly. info@novakata.com

  • To create a personalized portrait that truly captures your colors, I rely a lot on the photos you send. Please include 3 to 5 high-quality photos of yourself. These images help me tune into your presence, observe your features, and sense your colors through my synesthesia.

    Here’s what works best:

    ✅ Recommended:

    • One clear portrait photo
      – Face forward, well-lit with natural light (e.g., near a window).
      – No heavy filters or dramatic shadows.

    • One full-body photo
      – Ideally standing against a neutral background, like a white or light-colored wall.
      – Clothes that reflect your usual style are welcome

    • 1–2 personal favorites
      – These can be casual or expressive photos where you feel like “yourself.”
      – If you’d like your realistic portrait based on one specific image, let me know which one and what you like about it (pose, mood, lighting, etc.).

    🧡 A tips:

    • Please avoid selfies taken with heavy filters or extreme angles (they can distort features or lighting).

  • No — the colors I use are based on how I perceive you through synesthesia. It’s not something I choose, but rather something I see and feel. By commissioning me, you’re trusting this process.

  • Currently, I only offer original hand-painted watercolor portraits in fixed sizes. I may offer digital options again in the future — stay tuned!

  • Unfortunately, no. All commissions are final once paid, as the artwork is custom-made. Please make sure you’re ready before placing your order. If I’m ever unable to complete a portrait for any reason, I’ll fully refund you.
